Hévíz and its surroundings, attractions

Below is a non-exhaustive list of the main sights and landmarks in Hévíz and its surroundings.

Hévíz: Egregy

Egregy is located approximately 1.5 kilometers from the center of Hévíz, which means a half-hour walk or a few minutes' drive, but you can also get there with the Dotto train that runs through the city during the summer. Egregy is an imposing part of Hévíz, where wine cellars, small pubs and restaurants await visitors.

In addition to its gastronomy, the Egregy district is also famous for the St. Magdalene Church, which is one of the three churches in the Balaton area from the Árpád era that have survived to this day. The other two are the sub-church of the Bencés Abbey in Tihany, and the provost's church in Felsőörs.

Furthermore, the Roman ruin garden located here hides the remains of one of the most important imperial settlements in the area, which was inhabited for almost four centuries (from the first half of the 1st century to the beginning of the 5th century).

Hévíz: Farmers' market

The Hévíz farmers' market is located behind the Hévíz parking lot, where sometimes up to 800 vendors are located. Here, in addition to homemade and produced food such as sausage, ham, cheese, pickles and other seasonal vegetables and herbs, you can also find handmade ornaments and antiques. The bustling, but with a good atmosphere, the market is very popular among both locals and tourists.

The market is open on the following days:
• Tuesday: 08:00 - 13:00
• Thursday: 12:00 - 17:00
• Saturday: 08:00 – 13:00

Hévíz: Canopy lookout, Tavirózsa nature trail

In addition to walking the 2.2-kilometer Tavirózsa nature trail, it is also worth admiring the beautiful view from the 15-meter-high canopy lookout.

Hévíz: kayak tour

For more than 20 years, the visit to the Hévíz stream has been regularly organized in the autumn and winter periods, which provides a unique experience for the participants. In the winter tour, it is possible to take part in the Hévíz canoe tour every Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.
